The new update added two great features and some others that I really didn't care about:
- Auto Playlists
- Gapless playback
- Zune Card integration for friends (if you have a zune pass, you can also download all of their content)
- WIRELESS SYNCING! Take that iPod!
- Tv shows that you can download on your Zune. Of course, if you already have a plethora of video from an app such as TED, you can sync that as well... for free.
I think I like it when Microsoft is fighting an uphill battle. The iPod is still strong and for every feature Apple gives you, M$ will give it to you as well. But probably slightly later. The wireless sync did seem to take a little longer than usual but is a feature I will use often.
My bittersweet joy for this update can be summarized in an open letter to Microsoft:
Dear Microsoft,
Thank you for giving me features that I didn't expect for once. Though I know you're in a war for a market share and I am merely a casualty, I thank you for your features. I've come to admire your hotfixes over the years that you've released to patch buffer overflows and the such but features? Thank you.

P.S. Alfter this I almost forgive you for that time I bought my XBOX and though it had a DVD drive in it, you wrote software to disable it so that you could sell me some unnecessary junk to re-enable it.
