In case you’re not familiar with Youtube (even though according to Alexa at the time of this posting, it’s the 4th most popular site on the internet), it’s video sharing site filled with commercial and amatuer video alike. Let’s say you find a video you like and you would like to download it. How do you go about this?
Here are some options for downloading youtube (.flv) videos:
- With a browser extension.
- With the help of a script.
Browser extensions such as
DownloadHelper for Firefox are badass because you can use them conveniently while watching the video versus going to a third party site.
There are also sites like
http://www.keepvid.com and
http://www.javimoya.com that will allow you to download youtube videos to your computer.
So once you have the .flv file what do you do with it?
Download VLC Player.
