The concept is simple: Two people are selected at random and are shown two images. They have no means of communication aside from labeling images. If they both guess the same word for the image, they get points. The points are entirely useless (aside from the fact that the winningest top five and the all-time top five are listed after every round).
There is some strategy involved because when people tag a picture as ”woman”
when it could be tagged as the more accurate ”Angelina Jolie”, they get far less useless points.
If this sounds like the Carnegie Mellon University ESP Game, then you’re on the right track because Google has licensed their technology. Ya know… except if you participate in the Google version, you help me out when I need to find some properly tagged images.
So anyway, I was labeling some images and I came to this page and of course the guy on the other end had no idea what the image was:
