Over the past couple of weeks there have been many people complaining about the site loading quite slowly. I personally have experienced this problem and have been looking for a solution to this. After some troubleshooting and some trial and error I believe it's somewhat related to the shared database environment with our hosting.
However we also noted a large spike in latency in doing a trace route, which showed the spike just before the server. Currently I host with
Dreamhost which for the most part has not given me any problems, that is of course until late. I've been going back and forth with their support staff and they can't seem to replicate the problems saying that it loads just fine for them. I know this still isn't the case as I have tried the site at many locations and come up with the same slow load and navigation times.
I decided in order to prove that it was a hosting problem I would upload the site to a different shared hosting environment. In uploading the entire content of the current site and mysql database to the other
shared hosting I was able to load the site in less than a second and continue to navigate as such. This obviously proved my theory that the slow loading was directly somehow related to something within my current web host. Because of this I will be looking for alternatives to hosting for TheCleverGeek.com where we won't experience slow load times anymore. It just seems like it's one roadblock after another!
